New set of business books procured!

Sure enough, if there is a Strand book fest for 2006 at Bangalore and ‘Naveen and Srinivas not going there to buy books’ is something that is unheard of!

As always and as per our tradition, we pick up bags together of books – usually management and business books.

This time was no exception with us treating ourselves to books worth almost a real value of Rs. 20K (INR). Overall, we got a near 60% discount as the mean and the standard deviation discount price was about 30% spread over the mean.

To give a short backgrounder into this book buying binge of Srinivas and myself:

We do this procurement of foreign books every year and started this practice in 2002. We consistently pick up about Rs. 15K – Rs. 20K worth business (majority) or technology related (drastically reduced these days) books.

In 2003, I went alone and bought books worth Rs. 20K from the same fest.

We were in our grueling MBA schedule during 2004 and 2005 so we could not add on any more books to our agenda so we abstained from the book festival during those two years.

2006 – we have resumed our practice!

Most of the books are of category, Management/General, Human resources, HBR releases, Sales books, Strategy, autobiographies of great leaders.

We even purchased Tom Friedman’s “The world is flat”, UK print edition in a paperback version!

The books we get are of both types – hardcover and paperback and all of them are Printed in the United States of America or the United Kingdom since this is the best and most affordable opportunity we get to lay our hands on classy books to satiate our voracious appetite for book reading!
