Want to start a business – go East

leave a comment »

8 out of 20 countries listed on the best places to start a business/start-up are located in the East. This list was compiled by CNNMoney and the link is here: http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2008/smallbusiness/0809/gallery.best_countries_for_business.smb/index.html

The country at the top of the list as the most ‘SMB creation friendly’ is Singapore with New Zealand coming in at #2 and the United States at #3.

Factors considered are many. Some of them are items such as time taken to get the paperwork to get the entity registered, foreclosures, debt repayments in case of defaults, tax rates etc.

India definitely is way below in this list and will probably be somewhere in the bottom 20 to do business – given its corruption, political interference, bureaucracy, and red tapism.

This country really has a lot of catching up to do if it has to attract businesses to setup shop here.
